Just 26 km (16 miles) south of Athens, Aegina is easily accessible by regular ferry, Aero, or hydrofoil from Piraeus. With its unique energy and authentic charm, this Saronic island offers more than just a beautiful getaway. Its transformative essence has a way of making you feel truly at home.
In 1904, the renowned miracle healer Agios Nektarios chose to settle in Aegina, transforming a once-deserted monastery into his home and place of worship. Today, his monastery remains a place of solace and one of the island’s most visited landmarks. Aegina’s unique light has long attracted artists, serving as both a base and a source of inspiration for creativity. In modern times, the island has become a vibrant hub for workshops, retreats, seminars, and exhibitions.

My name is Lizzy, and I am the creator of AeginaHealing, formerly AeginaGreece.com. Since 2003, I have shared my love for this beautiful Greek paradise with millions of people. I am a Dowsing Specialist, Visionary, Spiritual Life Coach, Healer, Singer, and Artist, as well as the soul of The Beachhouse Apartments & Beach Bar in Vagia. But above all, my greatest passion is helping women and men create a happy, healthy, and colorful life.

On the 1st, 2nd & 3rd of November the Beach Bar and Apartments will take a little break —
but from the 4th we’re open again until the 10th of November.
After that, the Beach Bar will close for the season and reopen in March 🌞
The apartments remain open all winter (November, December & January)
for stays of minimum 2 nights — perfect for a peaceful island escape.
Winter at The Beachhouse
It’s a quiet, beautiful time on Aegina — ideal for rest, reflection, and inspiration.
As many nearby restaurants close during winter, it’s recommended to rent a car or scooter to explore the island and reach open tavernas and shops.

The island of Agios Nektarios
One of the most visited sites on Aegina is the monastery & church of miracle healer Agios Nektarios. Agios Nektarios of Aegina (1846-1920), is one of the most widely known Greek Orthodox Saints. He was officially recognized as a saint by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople in 1961. Each year, thousands of people from all over the world visit the tomb of Agios Nektarios. His memory is celebrated on his name day the 9th November with special church services and a procession through the streets of Aegina town.

Aegina, my home
When I first set foot on Aegina in 1993, I felt an instant connection. Almost a decade later, in 2002, I followed my heart and relocated with my dog and cat from the Netherlands. It was the beginning of a journey that led me to awakening, healing, and to living my soul’s passion — embracing a more authentic life that remains the best decision I ever made.
Over the years, I have poured my energy into creating welcoming spaces and meaningful experiences. The Beachhouse Apartments grew into a colorful place by the sea, and The Pearl Yurt became a base for yoga, healing, and clarity sessions — combining accommodation, creativity, and retreats into something that inspires both guests and myself.

Only 40 minutes from Piraeus
The airport of Athens is the closest airport to Piraeus from where the boats leave to Aegina island. Bus X96 will take you between 60 and 90 minutes from the airport to the Piraeus port. Aegina is located at only a 40 minute Flying Dolphin distance from Piraeus. The regular ferry takes around 75 minutes.

You can wander among the bleached sandstones, and imagine yourself there 2500 years ago when the surviving temple was built, or among the first known worshippers another thousand years before that.

The Aegina Fistiki Fest
Aegina is famous for her pistachio nuts, in Greek called: “Fistikia”. Every year in September, the harvest of the pistachios is celebrated with “The Aegina Fistiki Festival”. A four-day festival with a commercial market, food, music, dance, theatre & art in Aegina town.
Aegina Healing
Since ancient times the island has been connected with healing. According to Herodotus, Aegina was a colony of Epidauros. The city on the Peleponnese famous for its sacred centre and cult of healing, the Asclepieon. The Asklepiades, an ancient guild of doctors, were ministers of the god. Both Aristophanes and Pausanias mentioned in their writing that Aegina, like Epidauros, also had a temple of Asclepios dedicated to the god of medicine and healing.
