Four
Kilometres from the port of Aegina you will find the village of Kipseli
which means 'beehive'. Until fairly recently, this village was called
'Halasmeni' which means 'ruined' named after
the ruins of a local church. It was changed after many complaints from
the local girls!

Kipseli is prosperous, having extensive pistachio and almond orchards.

The main characteristic of this village is the great number of byzantine
and post-byzantine chapels. The most remarkable among them are the chapel
of Saint John Marna, of Saint Kyriaki and that of Saint Nicolas which
was built on ancient ruins.
