Aghia Marina is the tourist village located on the east-side of the
Island. It has a fine sandy beach and shallow waters stretching
from the port, right round the bay to the old harbour, where
the small chapel dedicated to The Virgin Mary, gave the village
its name.
A good selection of restaurants, cafes and bars, catering
for every taste, and a range of shops are centred
on the Main Street and the smaller streets leading to the beach.
During the summer months the beach can be very busy but on the
rocky coast, leading right round to Tourlos, there are still
some very secluded places, where you can enjoy a quiet swim in
privacy, even at the height of the season.
