En Aigini/ Εν Αιγινη is located in the centre of Aegina town, just a few hundred metres from the harbour. "Peinakothiki En Aigini" is a petit restaurant/ Mezedopolio & art gallery, located in the shaded avli of a typical old Aegina island stone building. The entrance to "En Aigini live underground", the place to be for live music, can be reached from here.
Peinakothiki En Aigini
"Peinakothiki En Aigini" is the symbiosis of quality food, a cosy location and art & music. From 11:30 AM until 15:30 & from 19:30 - 24:00 PM, the kitchen of "Peinakothiki En Aigini" is open to serve delicious home made Greek appetizers "mezedes". The paintings of Lena Potamianou are decorating the place during summer 2010. Lena was born in Sweden and has been living on Aegina since 1982, her work has been on exhibitions on Aegina, Copenhagen and Stockholm.
Between 15:30 and 19:30 the Peinakothiki is closed and after 24:00 open for drinks only until the early hours.
En Aigini live underground
Founded in 1995 by Yiannis Papantoniou, "En Aigini" has a rich musical history,
many people have had wonderful nights listening to good musicians. In 2009, the business was taken over by bass player Andreas Kostopoulos. Anno 2010, the rejuvenated "En Aigini live" is the only place on Aegina island where you can listen to live music all year around! Laiki & Rebetika (Greek) music is programmed on friday and saturday nights, while jazz, blues, latin, cretan music, ethnic, rock & funk concerts are programmed on weekdays.
Some groups/ musicians that have played in the past months in "Aegini live": The Black Coffee quintet, Yiannis Stravopoulos trio, George Kontrafouris trio, Marcos Papasifakis quartet, Yiorgos Papadopoulos flamenco guitar, Bad Luck, ProtaRota.
Concerts start around 22:00. Entrance fee on concert nights is 10 € (one drink included). Up to date concert information can be found on the posters in town, En Aigini facebook page or just get in contact.
